Osaka’s Wizarding World of Harry Potter

Our week in Osaka was not complete without visiting The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. We aren’t the biggest Harry Potter fans, but anyone would enjoy themselves because the park is fun and interesting.

Respect the spell limits or be banished!

While you can’t ride this Hogwarts Express, you can use your imagination and take pictures before buying memorabilia.

Yes, you can send an actual letter from the Owl Post! We didn’t send any letters because most of our friends and family wouldn’t care about the reference, but we thought this was really cool. Most people in the shop were sending postcards or letters to friends or themselves. Definitely a treasure to look forward to when you go back home.

It was a scorching day, and this Gilly Water hit the spot. It admittedly didn’t taste special but was needed to quench our thirst.

We stayed in Honeydukes longer than I am willing to admit, but there was a lot to take in and many people to avoid because it was so crowded. I really wanted to buy the cauldron cakes, but they would have melted, so I didn’t risk it. The chocolate frogs were cute, and we loved the cards inside. They were 3D, so the images did look like they were moving, just like in the book and movie.

I think the best part of the park is the castle. It felt like we walked into the real Hogwarts and were waiting for the sorting hat to place us in our house. The statues felt a little imposing, but that could also be because I’m short, and the hallways were dimly lit. It was a little difficult to take pictures because it was so dark inside, but I was just happy to be able to cool down.

While waiting in line for nearly two hours in the heat for a roller coaster ride that was mediocre at best(I’m not bitter), we passed by Hagrid’s cottage and motorcycle. It looked as though Hagrid might have been waiting inside to invite us in for a cup of tea or to relieve us from the heat. Alas, he did not, and we had to be satisfied with looking on, but it was still cool to look at.

If you’re a Harry Potter fan, you will love visiting The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. You can live your fantasy for a few hours as you wander down the streets and buy a wand, some Gilly Water, or send an Owl Post. Everything is replicated incredibly well, and you won’t ever feel bored. Just plan your visit when the weather is nice.
